Colombia-born actor and comedian produces compilation CD

Colombia-born actor and comedian John Leguizamo teams up with salsa label Fania Records to produce a compilation CD of Latin songs from his youth entitled “Ghetto Klown,” reported Spanish news agency EFE Wednesday.

“It really is an honor to have the opportunity to collaborate with this legendary label, and revisit all these classics,” said Leguizamo in a statement, “I am very excited to be able to create my own compilation of music that I grew up with and have been an inspiration for all of my shows.”

Ghetto Klown will be released in March, coinciding with the opening of his Broadway solo act of the same name. The production is his latest Broadway venture, directed by David Fischer after his previous critically-acclaimed solo shows “Freak” and “Sexaholix… a Love Story,” in which he [comedically] draws from his life experience.

Leguizamo was born in Bogota in 1964 but has lived in the US for over 40 years.
