7 policemen injured in north Colombia helicopter crash

Seven policemen were wounded Sunday as their helicopter crashed in the war-torn Catatumbo region in northern Colombia.

According to the first versions, the policemen were on a mission to eradicate coca crops in the Tibu municipality in the northern Norte de Santander department.

On Sunday night the wounded policemen were taken to hospital in the departmental capital of Cucuta, on the border with Venezuela.

Tibu and Norte de Santander at large sees the presence of left-wing rebels from FARC and ELN.

On Monday, Colombia’s Anti-Narcotics Police ordered an investigation into the event to determine the cause of the accident.
