Alleged FARC, neoparamilitary battle kills 7

Seven members of an alleged criminal organization have been killed by suspected FARC forces in northwestern Colombia, reported local media Thursday.

The victims were identified by residents of a nearby indigenous settlement in Chigorodo, Antioquia department as belonging to the Self Gaitanistas, a criminal group believed to have derived from the now-disbanded paramilitary group, the AUC.

“All men were wearing fatigues and had rubber boots,” Tulia Irene Garcia, secretary for the local government told Spanish news agency Efe. None of the deceased had identification, it was reported.
