7 of 10 Antioquia kidnap victims murdered: Police

Seven of the ten people who recently were kidnapped from a holiday home in the northern Antioquia town of Sopetran have been executed, police said Thursday. Three women who were part of the group were released.

According to General Cesar Augusto Pinzon, the victims were members of a gang that belonged to the criminal structure of “Sebastian,” who were kidnapped and killed by members of drug gangs “Los Paisas” and “Los Urabeños” after they found out the gang was planning an attack on members of the organization of drug lord “Valenciano.”

The police commander said that the Paisas / Urabeños coalition intended to kill “El Mago,” but “this guy succeeded to avoid the kidnapping” and left Sopetran just hours before the kidnapping.

According to the official, El Mago, together with seven other drug traffickers, was arrested in operations carried out in several cities in the north of Colombia and on the Caribbean island of San Andres.

The arrestees are suspected of managing the drug routes to the Caribbean Gulf of Urabá from where drugs was sent to central America in go-fast boats.
