Six people have been murdered over two days in a rural area of the Pueblo Rico municipality in the central Colombian department of Risaralda.
The victims were four members of the same family, including two children, as well as a father and son who worked for them.
The deaths occurred at a farm on Sunday and Monday. However, villagers were only able to inform the authorities on Monday afternoon due to a threat from the murderers not to report the events until that time. According to initial reports, the murders could be part of a revenge attack, El Tiempo reported.
The local ombudsman, Diana Marcela Toro, said, “The community advised authorities after the time limit that was imposed. Although it is not known which group did the deed, since March 8 a warning was sent to the authorities regarding the presence of ELN rebels in that area.”
Authorities have not yet been able to reach the village due to a road collapse but will attempt to get through by helicopter in the coming hours.
