45 demobilized murdered in Córdoba in four months

The deaths are contributed to drug gangs who are trying to control the routes of drug trafficking in the department of Córdoba. A special security council, made up of local and national police and military, think the murdered paramilitaries were part of these gangs. The council says that paramilitaries have little other option than joining the drug gangs, because there are hardly any job opportunities for them.In Medellín, Colombia’s second largest city, 20 demobilized paramilitaries have been murdered the past three months, Caracol Radio reports. In the same period last year twelve demobilized were murdered in the city.Pearl announced new measures to diminish the death toll under demobilized paramilitaries.47.000 Colombian paramilitaries have been demobilized in the past five years. 870 of them were murdered afterwards.
