4 assassinated in western Colombia

A massacre in western Colombia adds to the string of violence permeating through the region, local media reported Monday.

According to reports, four people were slaughtered in San Juan, Choco near the port city of Buenaventura where rival drug gangs have terrorized the coastal city for months.

The dismembered bodies of four farmers were found by local residents near a creek in the village of Taparal. Witnesses confirmed that the victims, who displayed signs of torture, were local residents.

“They were farmers, area residents,” claimed a witness.

Authorities have confirmed the quadruple murder but have yet to disclose any information regarding motive or possible suspects.

The victims allegedly left Buenaventura on November 14 headed for San Juan.
