28 injured in Bogota public transport accident

28 people were injured when a small city bus and a Transmilenio bus collided in the Colombian capital Bogota on Monday.

The accident happened on Calle 66 and Avenida Caracas when the driver of the city bus from the small company Universal jumped a red light and subsequently collided with the Transmilenio bus.

It has also been reported that the driver in question already has just over $5,500 worth of subpoenas hanging over his head from various previous driving offenses.

Although police have already made their assessment of what happened they were unable to use evidence of a local security camera as it was out of service.

The injured were taken to local hospitals or clinics with just one person suffering a fracture due to the collision.
