Medellin bullfight celebrates 20 years

Feria Taurina de la Macarena (The Macarena Bullfighting Festival) in Medellin, celebrates its 20th year this January.

The bullfighting festival is considered one of the most important in South America, and brings together international bullfighters and fans alike.

Spectators can witness the bullfights typical of Antioquia in the Macarena bullring on weekends throughout January and February.

The festival is celebrated year after year despite the criticism it has received from animal rights groups. Anti-bullfighting groups protest the ‘barbaric’ treatment of animals in the sport.
