2 soldiers killed, 3 wounded in FARC attack

Two Colombian soldiers were killed and another three were wounded Sunday by guerrillas of the FARC while eradicating illicit crops in the northern department of Caqueta.

The attack took place at about 10AM in the municipality of La Montañita, carried out by by members of the FARC’s 15th Front, according to newspaper La Nacion.

“In this attack professional soldiers were brutally murdered (…) to their friends and families our deepest condolences, support and feelings of deep pain,” said General Fabricio Cabrera on the loss suffered by the Caqueta Counter-narcotics Brigade.

Among the three wounded, two are in stable condition while one is still in serious condition after receiving wounds to the neck and throat.

The general reassured the public that the troops in Caqueta will continue to “combat the crime of drug trafficking, [which is] considered as the most important source of income for the guerrilla organization.”
