Colombia news - cerete cordoba

Less than one month after the murders of two Bogota students in Cordoba, two more students have been killed by criminals in the area.

On Wednesday, two students were murdered in the rural area of Cerete in the Cordoba department while on their way home from an Internet cafe Caracol Radio reported Thursday.

Family member accounts say that the two were returning by motorcycle to their rural house when they were detoured by a road block that two common criminals had set up to lure in victims.

The cousins, 20-year-old Silvia Mora Castellanos and 22-year-old Juan Carlos Ariza Castellanos, studied at the University of Cartegena in Cerete.

Margarita Gomez and Mateo Matamala, two biology students from Bogota, were murdered in Cordoba on January 11, 2011. This incident brought international attention to the increasing violence in the department of Cordoba.
