2 killed, 10 injured in bomb attack on supermarket in northern Colombia

A bomb attack on a supermarket in the northern Colombian city of Santa Marta has killed at least two and injured at least ten, local media reported Wednesday.

According to local authorities, the attacker threw a grenade into the supermarket.

Local newspaper El Heraldo reported that the explosion killed an employee and a client.

Santa Marta police told reporters that a 17-year old suspect was arrested after the attack.

According to El Heraldo, Santa Marta has suffered several bomb attacks over the past few weeks, causing unrest among the locals.

The area around the coastal city has seen a rise in violence over the past months due to tensions between Colombia’s largest neo-paramilitary group, the “Urabeños,” and a newly-formed neo-paramilitary group formed by allies and family members of extradited warlord Hernan Giraldo who used to control the area around Santa Marta.
