The 15th Summer Festival – a spectacle of electronic dance parties, monster truck madness, acrobatic sports, urban salsa bands and gospel concerts – will open Friday in Bogota.
The festival will kick off with an artistic and comical circus at the inaugural gala at the Sports Palace Friday at 7PM, reported the newspaper El Espectador.
Festivities begin on Saturday, August 6 at Parque Simon Bolivar with musical performances from reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee, trombonist Willie Colon and Bogota’s favorite salsa band, La 33. The show is free of charge.
If the rumors are true, a pyrotechnic show will close the evening.
Celebrations are scheduled to continue throughout the city until August 15.
A themed evening event, featuring a performance by the Sonia Osorio ballet, has been organized to honor the finalists at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, occurring simultaneously across Colombia.
The evening will also include a tribute to the much-loved and recently deceased Colombian folk singer, Helena Vargas.
The festival even offers attendees a taste of Colombia’s spiritual side with the 4th anniversary of the Bogota Gospel Concert.
For a less sanitized festival experience, techno enthusiasts can dance the night away at the Electronic White Party.
A few more amusing highlights include an acrobatic basketball game from the “Dunking Devils” and a monster truck freestyle show.
