1 in 3 of Bogota’s security cameras offline

Almost one third of Bogota’s security cameras is not working, Caracol Radio reported Monday.

According to the radio station, Bogota councilman Horacio Jose Serpa declared that the replacement and installment of the 110 cameras out of 385 that do not work would cost around $22 thousand.

Serpa also stated that some of the capital’s “strategic security sites” have been without functioning security cameras for up to 500 days.

Once the cameras go off line there appears to be no response from the authorities, the council member said.

Serpa asked for support from Colombia’s governmental branch in charge of security infrastructure to replace the broken cameras.
