Unidentified body is not Dutch guerrilla: Authorities

The unidentified body of a woman who died in a bombing raid alongside FARC commander “Mono Jojoy” is not Tanja Nijmeijer, a Dutch national who joined the rebels in 2002, say Colombian authorities.

According to Colombia’s prosecutor general and the Coroner’s Office, dental comparison disproved speculation that the body was that of Nijmeijer.

The director of the coroner’s office asked for a DNA test to confirm the findings.

FARC military commander Mono Jojoy was killed by a government airstrike on September 22 along with at least 20 other guerrillas. According to media reports, Nijmeijer had been working as the senior rebel’s personal secretary.
