Ex-Colombia coach Gomez sued over hitting woman

Formal criminal charges have been brought against former Colombia soccer coach Hernan Dario “Bolillo” Gomez for attacking a woman in a bar.

Colombian media reported that Carlos Castro, a lawyer who says he is not representing or defending the woman who was attacked, filed a complaint of personal injury against Gomez.

An article of the Colombian penal code states that anyone can file a criminal complaint for any known offense, whether or not they are involved in the act.

The former coach resigned Tuesday in response the public backlash he received for hitting a woman.

Prosecutors will assess the complaint in the next few days to determine if they will summons Gomez.
