Yidis Medina found guilty of bribery

Yidis Medina had admitted before the court she had changed her vote about an immediate re-election of Colombian President Álvaro Uribe in 2006. She says she was offered the bribe by several officials from the Uribe Administration.The politician can face a maximum sentence of eight years, but can also be sentenced to house arrest.Yidis Medina was arrested after she had admitted in an interview she had changed her vote, because government officials promised her favors.The Court is still investigating another former congressman, Teodolindo Avendaño, for bribery during the same vote. He was surprisingly absent during the vote, after having opposed the constitutional change before.Uribe and some (former) members of his administration are investigated for their alleged part in the bribery as well.
