Western media commemorate Betancourt anniversary

A quick search on Google news learns that in French media alone at least 755 articles about Betancourt had been published online within 24 hours.French Newspaper Le Monde published an article about the Colombian organization País Libre, that assists Colombian families dealing with kidnappings. Aside Betancourt, several rebel groups are holding over 700 people hostage.L’Express reports about the human chain hundreds of people formed in Paris to protest against the captivity of Betancourt.Saturday evening the Betancourt Family, recently released campaign manager Clara Rojas and ex-hostage, senator Consuelo Gonzalez were visiting French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Le figaro reports.The European Union, meanwhile, called for the release of Betancourt and all other hostages held in Colombia by “illegal armed groups”.
