Colombian authorities on Friday apprehended a former government official wanted for abetting drug gangs.
According to El Tiempo, Freddy Mauricio Tellez, a former International Affairs officer was captured early Friday morning.
An arrest warrant was approved on Thursday by Colombia’s Prosecutor General Eduardo Montealegre after incriminating documents were sent to them via the American Embassy.
Tellez, who will be extradited to the United States, allegedly gave drug traffickers key information which allowed them to evade Colombian authorities.
Along with Tellez, a lawyer Adriana Gonzalez Marquez was also arrested, allegedly being involved in the same scandal.
