VP supports Piedad Cordoba’s hostage release efforts

Colombia’s Vice President Angelino Garzon offered support for former Senator Piedad Cordoba’s efforts to release hostages held by guerrilla group FARC, reported Caracol Radio Monday.

“Every effort is being made for the unconditional freedom of the people held hostage is positive, and in that sense I think that what [Piedad Cordoba] is doing to free the hostages is good,” said Garzon.

The vice president reiterated what was demanded by President Juan Manuel Santos of the guerrillas holding the hostages.

If the FARC release all hostages without any conditions, the government is willing to enter peace negotiations.
