Colombian Vice President Angelino Garzon was rushed to hospital with sharp chest pain. This is the second time the official has been hospitalized since he took office a month ago.
Health Secretary Hector Zambrano said that Garzon suffered sharp chest pain while attending a event at the Ombudsman’s Office.
“This pain is evidence that there are some signs of fatigue. The important thing is that he looks after himself. We all care about Vice President Garzon. We understand his desire to work, but that activity may create more problems,” Zambrano said.
The health secretary said that incident was not serious and “and he didn’t even need to go to hospital.” However Zambrano called for Garzon to lighten his work load in order to avoid more serious complications.
Garzon has reportedly been told he is in an “excellent state of health” and will continue with his day’s commitments.
The vice president was rushed to hospital August 9, two days after taking office, with chest pains. He underwent open heart surgery and returned to work on August 23.
