After having appeared on burnt arepas, in coffee cups and on buckets, the Virgin
Mary Monday allegedly appeared on the peel of a mango in a suburb of
Santa Marta, north Colombia.
Scratches on the peel of the fruit make up the image of the Mother of Jesus, local worshipers say.
Hundreds of curious people set out on a pilgrimage to the mango tree to see the Virgin Mary, especially at night when the image is more visible because of the mango’s shine, Canal RCN reported.
So far, no one has dared to pick the fruit and there has been no decision as to what to do with the ripening fruit.
Claims of appearances of the Holy Virgin are common in Colombia.
