Virgin appears on a bucket near Cartagena

An image of the Virgin of Carmen appeared on a bucket of old water Thursday in a humble home in a town half an hour from Cartagena, reported Caracol Radio.

“I went to collect water and when I returned, I noticed a stain on the bucket that I tried to remove, but did not disappear, so I told my wife to take a good look because to me it seemed to be a Virgin and she was confirmed to me that the Virgin of Carmen,” discoverer Jose Maria Viloria told the radio station.

Virgin sightings and other religious phenomenon are not uncommon in Colombia and Latin America. For instance, worshippers in churches in Puerto Colombia and Sopetrán reported the Virgin Mary crying during Easter ceremonies this year.

So many people have arrived from the around the department, Bolívar, to pay their respects to the bucket with the image, now in a small makeshift altar in Viloria’s home, that Viloria has had to make lots of ‘tinto’—Colombian coffee, he told Caracol Radio.
