Angry villagers burn and loot government buildings

About one hundred people, allegedly tired of the frequent blackouts in San Carlos, Cordoba, looted and set the city council building and the city hall on fire on Thursday.

The protesters threw rocks at the public buildings, broke their windows and door, took out furniture and documents, and burned them. The city authorities imposed curfew to control the looting.

The power company explained that the blackouts were due to the thefts of high tension power lines, previously scheduled maintenance works, and an unexpected transmission failure.
