Number of weather victims reach 500 thousand

Almost half a million Colombians are victim of this year’s second rainy
season, authorities reported Wednesday. Floods and landslides have
caused devastation in more than half of the country’s departments.

Colombia’s National Center of Disaster Prevention and Response said 99,191 families were forced to evacuate, 279 houses were destroyed and another 38,995 seriously damaged.

The rainy season started less than a month ago and is expected to last until December.
