Venezuela to rebuild Colombian bridge

The Venezuelan government will replace a bridge in the Colombian town of Tibu that was allegedly destroyed by guerrillas this weekend, Colombia’s defense minister said Thursday.

The bridge, that connected the town of Tibu with the Colombian city of Cucuta, was destroyed this weekend by a car bomb.

According to Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera, his Venezuelan counterpart called him to say that the Venezuelan will reconstruct the bridge in “solidarity” with Colombia, which is struggling to deal with a extremely severe rainy season.

According to Rivera, the Venezuelan decision is the result of the recent improving of relations between Colombia and Venezuela.
