Venezuela is preparing to deport two suspected drug traffickers wanted
in Colombia and the United States.
National Anti-Drug Agency director
Nestor Reverol says the suspects will be sent back to Colombia this
week.
He told Venezuela’s state news agency Wednesday that Colombia could
extradite Marcos Orozco Wilches and Aldo Alvarez Duran to the U.S.
U.S. officials have accused Venezuela of failing to efficiently
fight drug trafficking. They say smugglers are increasingly using the
country as a way station for Colombian cocaine destined for the U.S.
and Europe.
President Hugo Chavez denies the charges and says Washington is
trying to tarnish his country’s image for political reasons. (AP)
