Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro said Monday that he had talked with his Colombian counterpart Fernando Araújo on the phone about the Colombian troops crossing the shared border of the two countries in the state of Apure.The Venezuelan government is seeking to avoid an armed conflict between the two countries by diplomatic channels, he said.Military commands of both Venezuela and Colombia visited the site where Colombia allegedly crossed the border, sources from both governments announced. According to Colombian general José Rafael González Villamil the encounter with Venezuelan General Florencio Carreno was very cordial.The Generals are awaiting the commission appointed by the two governments to inspect the region and the allegations of Venezuela.Venezuela accused Colombian troops of entering its territory illegally last Friday, a move which was denied by the Colombian government.
