‘Vargas Lleras to be interior minister in Santos government’

by Adriaan Alsema June 14, 2010

Colombia news - Santos and Vargas Lleras

Presidential candidate Juan Manuel Santos agreed to make Cambio Radical leader German Vargas Lleras Colombia’s interior minister if Santos wins Sunday’s elections, a Cambio Radical senator says.

According to Rodrigo Lara Restrepo, Santos and Vargas Lleras struck a deal on the Cambio Radical front man’s position after his support for Santos’ candidacy.

“This most likely means that Vargas Lleras will be in charge of the post that’s most important for the towns,” Lara Restrepo told RCN Radio.
