The scandal involving members of the U.S. Secret Service partying with prostitutes is a boost for Cartagena’s sex tourism industry, a local provider told Colombian radio.
The anonymous sex tourism operator told undercover reporters from Caracol Radio that the U.S. Secret Service “helped my business a lot. The next day I received more than 20 emails.”
He told the reporters that some of the girls who spent the night with U.S. officials came from the agency he promotes, which charges $2,600 per day and advertises its services on internet.
He called the secret service agents “idiots” for also picking up girls from the streets and ending up in trouble over disputing the $47 payment.
“We charge per day because we pay the girls every 24 hours. Everything is settled beforehand, so that nobody is going to ask for money,” one of the promoters of the sex tourism package said.
The scandal has caused embarrassment for U.S. authorities and indignation in Colombia. However, for the sex tourism promoter, the scandal has become the perfect sales pitch.
“If it’s good enough for the Secret Service, it’s good for everybody,” the sex tourism provider said.
