US oil producer abandons Colombian well

Houston American Energy announced Thursday it abandoned a Colombian well due tool failures and a stuck pipe and reported losses for the first nine months of 2011.

The petroleum producer said in a statement it will seal the Tamandua #1 well in the CPO-4 block as adverse conditions made it impossible to continue test drilling.

The well in the Llanos Basin was drilled to a depth of 15,562 feet. The company which also operates in the Northern Putumayo Basin will move the drilling rig to one of two possible locations.
