US must give fair treatment to Colombian exports

The Colombian Agriculture Minister demanded Tuesday that U.S. authorities do not impose “unfair obstructions” on Colombia’s meat exports.

Juan Camilo Restrepo Salazar asked on his Twitter feed that the U.S. recognize Colombian meat as vaccinated and free of foot-and-mouth disease. He also requested that Colombian exports of meat and dairy to Korea and Turkey not be limited.

Regarding the upcoming free trade agreement with the U.S., Restrepo said, “We have to overcome some delays […] We must seek to maximize opportunities and mitigate threats.”
