US embassy employee wounded in explosion

An employee of the U.S. embassy and his 23-month-old baby were injured in a gas explosion in Bogotá, authorities say.

The explosion, caused by a gas leak, took place in the Ciudad Salitre neighborhood in the center of the capital and wounded embassy official Kevin Franz and his baby.

Twenty others were treated for respiratory problems, but suffered no serious injuries.

Firemen were able to control the fire quickly, Bogotá police commander General Rodolfo Palomino told the press.
