Uruguay starts extradition procedure of DMG director’s wife

An Uruguay judge ordered the imprisonment and start of an extradition
procedure of Joanne León Bermúdez, the wife of DMG director David
Murcia.

León, who was arrested in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo Tuesday, is wanted by Colombian justice for her part in the alleged criminal activities of DMG company, Colombia says was a pyramid scheme and used for money laundering.

Uruguay has no extradition treaty with Colombia. The latter has already indicated it is starting the procedure to request the extradition of Murcia’s wife. This process can take a few months, Colombian authorities say.
