Uribe wants DMG victims to talk to director

Colombian president Álvaro Uribe wants people that lost their
money in suspected pyramid scheme and money launderer DMG to be allowed
to talk to jailed DMG director David Murcia Guzman to persuade him to tell the
authorities where the money is.

Uribe, speaking in Popayán, added that a visit like that will need the permission of teh country’s General Prosecuter’s office.

“The judicial authority who are now respondible for Mr. David Murcia must authorize such a visit. We as government will fully facilitate such a visit,” the President said.

“If Mr. David Murcia wants to return the money, the government will  help him do so. Let him please not mislead the people, but instead say ‘Look, the money we have is here’ or ‘We don’t have the money’, but let him not mislead the people,” Uribe said.

Thousands of Colobians have lost all their money after the collapse of one pyramid scheme and the government decided to shut down DMG and arrest its executives. The loss of money have led to crisis situations in the south of Colombia where mayors say local economies have collapsed completely.

Murcia refuses cooperation with justice and won’t tell where the money “invested” in his company is.
