Uribe officially investigated for bribery Medina

Medina accuses Uribe and his political allies of having offered her a bribe in 2004, when a constitutional change was necessary to speed up the re-election of the President. The former congresswoman, who was angry for never having received the promised favors, is now in jail awaiting trial for her part of the bribery.Aside President Álvaro Uribe, the court started an official investigation against Minister of Social Protection Diego Palacio Betancourt, deputy Interior Minister Hernando Angarita, Congressman Armando Benedetti, the President’s former secretary general Alberto Velasquez and the former superintendent of Notaries and Registration.Prosecutor Mario Iguarán immediately withdrew from the case after the court’s decision to investigate members of the former cabinet. Iguarán was deputy Minister of Justice at the time of the alleged bribe.
