Unborn child stolen from mother’s womb

A woman from the northern Colombian town of Santa Marta said Thursday her unborn child was stolen from her womb.

According to a press release by a local hospital, the woman was admitted with serious injuries caused by a back-alley caecerian.

The victim’s family told press that the eight-months pregnant woman was drugged by a man who made her believe he could help her register her unborn child for health insurance.

She was later found in a village just outside of Santa Marta with a massive belly wound and without her baby.

The Santa Marta police department announced that they had began an investigation into the alleged baby theft.

It is not the first time that thieves have stolen an unborn baby in Colombia; last year, two girls aged 16 and 14 were arrested after stealing the unborn baby of a woman in the north-eastern Boyaca department.
