Two more prosecutors sacked for alleged corruption

Two prosecutors working for Colombia’s highest courts were dismissed
for alleged corruption. One prosecutors is suspected to have helped
alleged drug lord ‘Don Mario’. The second prosecutor was dismissed for
allegedly stalling trials against politicians who are suspected of
having ties with paramilitary warlords.

Prosecutor Jorge Echeverri, working for Bogotá’s Superior Court, is suspected of having tried favoring ‘Don Mario’ after he tried nullifying cases against suspected members of the alleged drug lord’s organization.

Ricardo Mezamel, working as a prosecutor for the Supreme Court allegedly resigned because he was stalling investigations into former Santander senator Luis Alberto Gil Castillo, who is suspected of having had ties with the AUC.
