Two Colombians suspected to be victims of Spanish train crash

Two Colombian youths are suspected to be among those killed when a Spanish train ran over a group of pedestrians Wednesday night, leaving at least 12 dead and 14 more injured.

EFE reported on Wednesday that “a source at the [Colombian] embassy in Spain” said that two Colombian citizens are “missing” following the accident.

According to witness reports, a large group of mainly Latin American youths exited a commuter train in the beach town of Castelldefel, close to Barcelona, on Wednesday night en route to a beach party.

The incident reportedly occurred when, instead of using the pedestrian underpass, a number of the youths decided to jump down onto the rail lines and cross the tracks to save time. However an express train traveling at 139 kilometers per hour that doesn’t stop at that station caught the group off guard and slammed directly into them.
