Two Colombians kidnapped—in Yemen

Two Colombian engineers nearly halfway around the globe from their homeland, until recently the world’s kidnapping capital, were kidnapped by a tribe in northeast Yemen Friday.

The pair, who were in Middle Eastern country working on a liquid gas project, were kidnapped to the east of the Yemeni capital along with their driver and interpreter, both Yemeni citizens, officials of the Yemeni police agency Saba told Spanish news agency EFE.

The kidnappers have asked authorities to release members of their tribe who are incarcerated for criminal activities.

Kidnapping of foreign tourists and workers in Yemen has become more common of late.
