Truckers block road to coast

Some thousand vehicles got stuck on the highway connecting Bucaramanga
with Colombia’s Caribbean coast Friday after striking truckers blocked
the road.

According to authorities, the block is disrupting regional public transport, because the road connects Bucaramanga with the north of Colombia.

Colombia’s truckers association ACC is currently involved in talks with the government and demands the fuel prices to be lowered, now the price of oil has dropped. The truckers also demand the government to keep its word on promises made that ended a strike in 2008.

According to local media reports, there is progress in the talks, but without any concrete result.
