In an interview with newspaper El Espectador Wednesday, Miss Colombia President Raimundo Angulo said that “as long as I am here, no transvestite will compete in the beauty pageant…the contest chooses a woman as Miss Colombia.”

Angulo also debunked the pageant myth that the winner of the contest must be rich. Angulo argued, “this is imagined.”

Another rumor that Angulo quashed was that Miss Colombia is picked by pulling the right “strings” instead of legitimate judging, something he claims is a myth of the contest.

The new Miss Colombia will be elected next week.
