Trade minister in talks with French cosmetics industry heads

Colombia’s trade minister travels with President Juan Manuel Santos to France to meet business leaders of the cosmetics industry, reports W Radio.

Minister Sergio Diaz-Granados will hold discussions with the CEOs of several major cosmetics companies such as Cosmetic Valley, Jean Luc Ansel and L’Oreal. The aim is to encourage the development of the cosmetics sector in Colombia.

Preliminary figures indicate that in 2010 the cosmetics sector in Colombia achieved sales of $2.186 billion, with exports of around $618 million. There were 28,100 jobs generated in the industry, an increase of 725 compared to 2009.

According to the latest projections, the sector is expected to generate $7 billion in revenues, reaching $1.2 billion in exports, by 2019.

The minister will also meet French business leaders from other sectors, where he will set out the advantages of Colombia as an investment destination.
