Town counsilor murdered in central Colombia

Authorities in the central Colombian department of Tolima on Monday reported the murder of Henry Ramirez Daza, a town counsilor for the municipality of Ambalema, according to Colombian media.

According to reports, 56-year-old Ramirez died after being shot in the head at his home in the Comfenalco neighborhood of Tolima’s capital city, Ibague.

Witnesses say that the assassin arrived at the house riding a motorcycle, but police say that they have no other leads in the case and the motive for the murder is as yet unknown.

The victim was president of the Assembly of Tolima and on the board of directors of an alcohol beverage company.

Ramirez also planned to run for mayor of Ambalema.
