According to the country’s Ministry for Commerce, Industry and Tourism, 638,000 tourists arrived in Colombia between January and June.
For Minister Guillermo Plata, these data confirm that the economic crisis has not slowed down the growth of tourism in Colombia, while tourism worldwide fell by 8% due to the current economic situation.
Plata noted that these figures are “positive” considering the “the enormous difficulties of the world economy” and that “tourism almost did not exist in Colombia five or six years ago.”
