Tolima stay on top, Santa Fé coach quits

Deportes Tolima successfully defended their first place in the
Colombian Copa Mustang, while football news was dominated by the sudden
departure of Santa Fé manager Hernán Dario Gómez.

The coach announced his decision after the match between Santa Fé and Quindío, which ended in a 2-3 result. Santa Fé twice took the lead, with Yulian Anchico scoring both goals, but failed to hold on to their advantage. Víctor Bonilla equalised for Quindío in the first half and Oscar Murillo did so late in the second. Things got worse for the home side when Sebastián Hernández netted Quindío’s winner on 84 minutes.

Following the match, Gómez announced that this had been his last match with Santa Fé. The Bogotá outfit spend a large part of the Copa Mustang 1 in the top eight but are currently in 11th place.

Deportes Tolima remained in first place following a 1-1 draw with Boyacá Chicó in Tunja. The hosts did take the lead through Anthony Tapia in the 10th minute but Franco Arizala equalised in the 76th.

The most spectacular match of the weekend was the clash between Pereira and La Equidad, where the latter came back from 3-1 to win 3-5. Mario Giménez, Julián Barahona and Christian Lara scored for the home side, Diego Cochas (2), Wilson Carpintero, Efrain Viáfara and Victor Giraldo did so for the guests.

La Equidad had two players sent off in this game. Hugo Soto was sent for an early shower on 40 minutes and Dawlin Leudo followed in the 82nd.

Real Cartagena and Millionarios held each other to a scoreless draw at the coast. The most notable moment of the match was a red card to Cartagena’s Harold Macias in the 71st minute.

The classic between Independiente Medellín and América de Cali ended in a 1-3 away victory. Carlos Hidalgo opened the score in DIM’s favor on 13 minutes but John Valencia equalised in the 25th. Wilson Morelo then put the guests ahead in the 69th minute and Victor Cortés made it 1-3 in the 84th.

Atlético Nacional remain stuck at the bottom of the league following a 1-1 draw at Pasto. The Medellín outfit did take the lead through Aldo Ramírez in the 43rd minute but Juan Vélez equalised for Pasto in the 61st. Pasto’s Germán Centurion was red-carded in the 65th minute.
