‘Today I am your Pique’: Calle 13 rapper to Shakira

In a surprise appearance at Shakira’s Puerto Rico concert last weekend, Calle 13’s Rene “Residente” Perez hopped on stage to sing a duet with the Colombian pop artist, the words “Today I am your Pique” scrawled on his back.

Far from her Spanish soccer star boyfriend Pique, Shakira joined Residente to sing a new edition of their song, “Gordita.”

“Shaki, you are very pretty, but I also Iiked it when you were more fat,” rapped Residente. “I also like you more fat, more brunette, more rocker.”

Concertgoers at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan cheered the duo on.

Residente, a San Juan native, started the hip-hop group Calle 13 with his stepbrother and sister in Puerto Rico eight years ago.

The Latin rapper has been known to scribble messages on his back, often of a political or socially meaningful nature, but it seems even Shakira was taken off guard by the light-hearted message.
