‘Tirofijo’ buried in Venezuela

FARC co-founder Manuel Marulanda Vélez, a.k.a. ‘Tirofijo’, was buried
in Venezuela after dying of a heart attack in the arms of his wife, a
deserter from the guerrilla group said Friday.

A FARC deserter who was part of the security detail of Manuel Marulanda Vélez, a.k.a. ‘Tirofijo’, said Friday that the body of the guerrilla group’s co-founder was taken to Venezuela after he died of a heart attack in March.

The guerrilla deserter known as ‘Yeiner’, who turned himself into the army Friday, said Vélez died in the arms of his wife after several months of convalescence. He did not specify where the commander was buried, reported Caracol Radio.
