Three more politicians sent to jail

Colombia’s Supreme Court sentenced two congressmen and one former governor to jail for different crimes.

Former coalition Representative of the House and prominent christian, Ruben Dario Salazar (Convergencia Ciudadana), was sentenced to five years and four months imprisonment because he had forced members of Congress’ Unit of Legislative Work to hand over part of their monthly wages to him.

Former coalition Senator Ricardo Elcure (Colombia Democratica) was sentenced to six years in jail for having signed agreements with now-demobilized paramilitary organization AUC.

Former governor of Cesar, Lucas Gnneco, was sentenced to ten years in jail for several cases of corruption.
