One former Colombian soldier and two unknown women died in yet another gruesome incident on the Venezuela-Colombia border, Colombian police says.
According to Arauca police commissioner Luis Alberto Ortiz Quintero, a witness had testified how unknown armed men took the three victims from the Venezuelan to the Colombian side of the border where they were executed.
Authorities identified the male victim as a former soldier who had been working for a private security firm. The identity of the two women is still unknown.
The incident follows a number of previous bloody incidents in the border area where both Venezuelan and Colombian authorities seem unable to take control of the security situation. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced recently he would send thousands of troops to the border to boost security.
